education

One of the things that drew me to Waterloo was the interdisciplinary nature of their program offerings. I am pursuing an Honours Bachelors of Arts, with Co-op. I am double majoring in Arts & Business, and Political Science, and minoring in Fine Art. I hope scrolling through this page helps provide you with some insight into my educational background, and the unique combination of skillsets that it has set me up with.

Arts and business major

  • Analyze business decisions: International business, and practical business courses are chock full of case studies, which have developed my understanding of how access a company’s financials and recommend next steps

  • Evaluate business concepts: Multiple university level courses have included creating business proposals and tasked me with developing a start-up concept that has market viability.

  • Present and pitch: Being in a business program has enabled me to have a great deal of experience presenting to large groups, the practice has already come in handy when other public speaking opportunities have arose.

  • Research in depth: I have written dozens of essays in university, and for each I’ve spent hours deep-diving through books, journals and forums. I enjoy the process of researching because you gain tidbits of knowledge you may not have been garnered with otherwise, so I like to be thorough.

  • Analyze situations and ideate solutions: Strategy in politics is not limited to campaigning – because of the complexity of governments and the number of things they influence, critiquing methods of governance and hypothesizing improved structures is one of the most complicated forms of problem solving.

  • Network: Political management is an area of particular interest to me, I enjoy making and sustaining connections.

  • Visual design skills: Having an eye for design has been a very useful tool to use to communicate ideas and concepts clearly. I also get to do nifty things like customize the icons or create the .gifs you seen through my site.

  • Literal design thinking: While a bit tongue in cheek, I do believe having an art background has given depth to the term ‘design thinking’ for me. I think I often approach work the way I would take on an artistic challenge.
